Mary Jane Shoes
Mary Jane shoes are classic shoe-design worn by women. Typically, they have low heels, broad and rounded closed toes with a single-bucket strap across the middle top of the foot. Mary Jane was actually derived from the character role of the comic strip entitled Buster Brown in 1902. In 1904, the writer of the comic strip, Richard Outcault, sold his license to numerous companies to use his Buster Brown’s characters to advertise their products. Among these companies was the Brown Shoe company. This occasion helped the company to become prominent and the style of shoe worn by the actors has been known as Mary Jane.

However, these shoes were actually originally worn by both young men and women, but after the World War I and II, they were only considered to be for young girls. They are also no longer limited to patent leather, but as well as made from different leather materials.
Also originally, Mary Jane shoes are known to have a single strap across the top of the foot, but in modern designs, they already contain multiple straps which make them more recognizable. Today, Mary Janes are also made with different styles and designs. They are also no longer limited for formal occasions, there are brands that have sporty types and are perfect to match with skirts, shorts and jeans. You can also even find Mary Jane inspired boots.
With the various styles where they are made of, from casual to formal ones, Mary Jane footwear are really have a special place. This is probably the kind of shoes which will never fade away even after so many years. Truly, they will still remain to be one of the popular classic styles of shoe which every women will wish to have.
